What changed

Every release, most recent first. These are the same notes the app shows you after an update.

Latest is 0.6.0, released 29 September 2026.

0.6.029 September 2026

New

  • Repair can run on your device, in English, so the pad's text never leaves it.
  • History and dictations can be set to Don't keep. Pinned pads stay.
  • Choose a colour for the pill, in Settings under Appearance.
  • If dictation hears nothing for 20 seconds, it plays three short, quiet pulses.

Improved

  • Clear, Copy and clear, New pad and Restore happen the moment you press them.
  • The suggestions list is clearer, and right clicking a word offers its suggestions first.
  • Settings says what Repair needs, and shows when Windows has Open when I sign in turned off.
  • Opening on hover no longer takes the keyboard from the app you were in.
  • Models download from our own server, and say first if your disk has no room.

Changed

  • Faithful now does what Refined did, and Refined also drops filler words and sentences you left unfinished.

Fixed

  • The window no longer stops responding while a slow microphone opens, or after you click the tray icon.
  • Clearing, pasting over the pad or an unreadable file never loses your text: it is kept, set aside or undoable, and you're told.
  • If your settings can't be read, nothing is deleted or saved over them until you confirm.
  • An update waits for you to press Restart, and never interrupts a dictation.
  • The pill shows your words as repaired, and after a dictation you can type straight on.
  • Clearing History or dictations removes only what was there when you asked.
  • Settings no longer goes blank over a stopped download, which now shows as paused with Resume.
  • Escape, Find and Tab act only where you are, and a single letter can no longer be a shortcut.
  • Smaller fixes to the tray, read only mode, screen reader support and layout.

0.5.025 September 2026

New

  • Report a problem from Settings, with screenshots that hide your own words and a pen to point with.
  • Settings links to privacy and terms, and takes feedback by email.
  • Press the word count to show characters first.

Improved

  • Repair fixes far more of what dictation leaves behind, and Refined fixes your grammar too, in your own words.
  • History opens at once however much you keep, shows pads without their Markdown marks, and highlights what you search for.
  • Keeping less history now says how much it will delete, and asks first.
  • Dictating asks far less of your computer while it listens.
  • Buttons show clearly when you point at them and when you press them.

Fixed

  • Deleting in History can be undone, and restoring an old pad no longer loses it.
  • History stays put while you dictate, and expanding the window no longer shudders.
  • Right to left text sits like English in History, the title and the pill.
  • When a trial ends, dictating says the pad is read only instead of quietly doing nothing.
  • On Linux, the Super key no longer sets off Ctrl shortcuts, and History and Settings open smoothly.

0.4.121 September 2026

History opens the moment you press it, however much you have kept.

Improved

  • History opens and switches tabs without the pause it used to have.
  • Filtering your pads stays quick however much history you keep.

Fixed

  • Pressing History no longer leaves the window blank for a moment before the list appears.

0.4.021 September 2026

Dictations you can name, keep and take out of the app, and a Settings you can

New

  • Name a dictation or a pad in History, save its text or its audio out, and show its file in your file manager.
  • Keep your pads forever, and clear history by how far back it goes.
  • Right click the pad for headings, lists, quotes, links and code, without typing the symbols.
  • Settings has a row of chips for getting down the screen.
  • Choose which two actions sit in the footer.
  • Choose which model repair uses at your provider.

Improved

  • Repair fixes more of what it should and still leaves your meaning alone.
  • History pins a dictation in place, marks what your filter matched, and calls the Text tab Pads.
  • A taken suggestion shows which word it changed.
  • Copy recent dictation says that it copied, and ends the session.
  • The update card says how large the download is.

Fixed

  • The opening words of a dictation are kept on machines where the start sound is slow to play.
  • A recording left running stops after two hours and keeps everything it heard.
  • Repair says when your provider's reply was cut short, instead of saying there was nothing to change.
  • A trial notice you dismissed stays dismissed, and returns when a day goes.
  • A dictation whose audio has gone says so, instead of restoring nothing.
  • Copied text reaches Windows clipboard history again, and the selection is painted where the text is.
  • Plus smaller improvements and fixes throughout.

0.3.317 September 2026

Markdown that reads like a page, and dictation that starts where you expect.

New

  • Markdown reads as a clean page, and its symbols appear only where you are editing.
  • Tasks get checkboxes you can tick, and Enter carries a list on.
  • Urdu, Arabic and Hebrew text reads right to left, paragraph by paragraph.

Improved

  • Repair has two tiers, Faithful and Refined.
  • A dictation made with the window hidden lands as a new paragraph, marked New.
  • Always on top, and what the window becomes when you put it away, are now settings.

Fixed

  • Dictation waits until the microphone is open before it says Listening, so your first words are kept.
  • You can edit a flagged word straight away, and discard takes the dictation's words with it.
  • Plus smaller improvements and fixes throughout.

0.3.215 September 2026

Dictation that says what it is doing, and a pad you can read while it works.

New

  • A soft knock tells you the text is ready when a cloud transcription or a repair finishes.

Improved

  • Dictation and repair are on from the start, and pressing either before it is set up opens the setting that does it.
  • Discard asks before it deletes a recording, and keeps recording while it asks.
  • Ctrl+Shift+D is left for other apps until dictation is set up, and a shortcut clash is shown in Settings instead of over Copy and clear.

Fixed

  • You can select and copy text while dictation or repair is running.
  • A pause while dictating shows how long it has been quiet, instead of warning that nothing was heard.

0.3.115 September 2026

Fixes from the first days of everyday use.

  • Dictations that had gone missing from History are back, and pinned items stay at the top.
  • Selecting text highlights all the way down a long pad.
  • Ctrl+Shift+Z redoes instead of undoing a second time.
  • Copy and clear on the dictation pill takes the whole pad, like the one in the window.
  • A shortcut another app was holding starts working as soon as that app lets it go.
  • Open when I sign in works again after scratchcat was reinstalled.

0.3.013 September 2026

Speak into the pad, and have what you said put right without being rewritten.

New

  • Dictate into the pad, on your device or through a provider you choose. Turn it on in Settings.
  • Repair fixes what was misheard or mistyped, and never rewrites what you meant.
  • History keeps your dictations, so you can listen again or transcribe one a second time.

Improved

  • The window slides into its corner, screens fade into each other, and there is a new typeface.

Fixed

  • A Linux .deb install now updates itself instead of failing.
  • A global shortcut can be left unset.

0.2.08 September 2026

The window now moves, snaps, opens and closes as one coherent thing.

New

  • Settings shows what changed in the version you are running.

Fixed

  • The pill collapses back to the corner you left the window in.
  • The window stays where you hold it, and snaps only once you let go.
  • The window no longer opens or closes by itself.
  • The window keeps its own size. Maximising and screen tiling are switched off.

0.1.07 September 2026

The first build, for private preview. Not finished, and not for sale yet.

  • A pinned pill that expands to a full editor and collapses back, dockable to any screen corner, summoned from anywhere with a global shortcut.
  • Paste, fix, copy, clear — with an undo for the clear.
  • Markdown-aware editing, and offline grammar and spelling checks that never send your text anywhere.
  • A searchable history of everything that has left the pad, with pinning.
  • Light and dark themes that follow the system, and rebindable shortcuts.
  • A 14-day trial. After it ends the pad becomes read-only — you can still copy anything in it, read and export your whole history, and nothing is deleted. Adding a licence in Settings restores it, and needs no internet connection.
  • Updates install themselves, and keep working whether or not there is a licence: a fix should reach everyone.
